How long do you think 15 percent of property
owners in thi entire city can urvive. this type of
unamerican tactic?
Maybe we need a Boston Tea Party to be revived
in Highland Park and say to the Mayor and City
Council: 'No more taxation without representation.'
The public needs to know:
-What is the total amount of the debt retirement?
Is it true that $500,000 a year must be paid bac to
the pension fund?
-What is the total amount of law uits?
-How many of the lawsuits have been filed by
police and fire personnel or other employees of the
city?
-Is $5 million owed to the pension fund?
-How many of the lawsuits are filed by the same
people suing again?
-Are people suing the city still employed by the
city?
All city taxpayers need to ask the city council, the

In thi political year, where the nation is focusing
on the presidential election, taxes are the most impor

affect everybody and everything.
On the national level, taxes are a deficit-reduction
plan. When the deficit drops, taxes are supposed to
come down. The economy flourish . Businesses
booming, homeowners increase. Taxes stabilze be
cause everyone is contributing.
But in Highland Park, taxe as a deficit-reduction
plan is a joke. The concept of raising taxes to reduce
the deficit does not work when the underlying causes
for the deficit are still operating at a faster rate than
the taxes are being collected. You are on a roller
coaster which i going over a cliff.
We say that, to prove this point: The city has added
$956,000 to the tax rolls. Each property owner will
pay a portion of that amount to satisfy a lien that the
