Second Bridge
Builder Is Planned

Cornerstone Alliance, Council of
Commerce and Community
Development, plans second bridge
builder. The project, Bridge Builder,
was initiated by the Vision '93
Recreation and Youth Opportunities
committee. It targets junior high
school youth from the entire com­
munity through various church
groups.
Bridge. Builder Two is scheduled
for Thursday, August 20, from 4-8
p.m., at Carronde Park. Participation
is limited to 150 students and reser-
" vations are required.
Groups may bring up to 20 stu­
dents and one (1) chaperon per 10
student is necessary. Baseball, vol­
leybll, group activites, and a special
presentation will round out the fun.
The cost, which includes dinner, is
$1.50 per student for groups register­
ing before August 14, after August
·14, the fee will be $2.00 per student.
Fall County
Convention Held
The Fall County Convention" of
the Berrien County Democratic
Party will be held on Saturday,
August 1S, at 1 p.m., at the 1839
Courthouse Museum, N. Cass, Ber­
rien Springs. The purpose of the"
meeting will be to elect delegates to
the Michigan Democratic Party Fall
Convention (which will be held
Saturday and Sanday, August 29 and
30, at Cobo Hall, in Detroit,
Michigan.
Berrien County Democrats may
elect 32 Delegates/Alternate
Delegates to the Fall State Conven­
tion.

AppUcations for the August train­
ing session for the Senior Volunteer
Aides will be held Tuesday, August
4th.
Training sessions are completed
over seven days and cover different
areas of service available to the
volunteers plus First Aid and CPR
courses. Applicants should like
children, be of good moral character,
have attained 55 years or older and
be available for at least one visit to
the child per week.
Benefits to the Senior Volunteer
Aide include a free medical physical
and reimbursement of time and ex­
penses including millage for those
individuals who meet the Program's
income guidelines.
All interested Seniors regardless
of income are encouraged to apply.
