It's no wonder why their producers Denzil Fo ter and Thomas McElroy came up· with "Funky Divas" for the title of their second release. But En­ Vogue doesn't w nt folks to think success has gone to their heads. Fact is, the diva image for En Vogue goes far beyond their physical beauty and talented vocal. For their econd album, they admit that it was something of a challenge to top their platinum release "Born To Sing". However, after the project was finished, they say they had no doubts. Their single "My Lovin" (You're Never Gonna Get It)" is really making headway on the airwaves and the charts. The tunes combine the funk of R&B, the pizzazz of pop, and the new ever­ popular En Vogue a' cap­ pell style. The girls say they never intended to popularize dOO-WOp. Nor' did they remake two of Aretha Franklin' hottest numbers from the "Sparlde" soundtrack in dedication to Aretha. Instead Terry and Dawn say, "it's our tribute to Cur­ tis Mayfield." As to the movie, "Sparlcle": "we looked at the girl group in the movie. It's almost the story about us. - Before they became En Vogue.Dawn, Terry, Max­ ine, and Cindy were wor - ing on different aspects of their career .. Cindy's con­ tinuing to pursue acting and was recently featured in the movie "Juice", but there are no plans for 'the group to split.
