PEOPLE POWER! - Rev. Lawrence Edwards, director of the Save
Our City Coalition spoke at the Joseph Walker Williams Community
Center in Detroit, where the coalition held a recent town meeting,
"People Empowerment Through Neighborhood Action.· Rev.
Edwards emphasized community empowerment through collective
action. "Coalitions are the most powerful thing we have,· he said.
"The government and the people In it listen to us because greater
numbers mean greater power.· ,

Park Go pelrama, where local area
church choirs and gospel groups will
portray their talent, will be held
S nday June 19 at 3 p.m. at
Woodward and Manchester.
Admi sion is free.
It is ponsored by the Mayor of
Highland Park and the Cultural Arts
Commission with city residents and
businesses participating.
