The man, new fine arts gallery,
Art N' Soul at 18915 W. 12 Mile
Ro d, Lathrup Village, Michigan,
opens a wonderful exhibition,
"Sister Spirits" pot-lighting the
work of 13 women of Kindred Souls,
a rapidly growing, Detroit based eth
nic women's fine arts organization.
Thirteen is indeed a I ucky number
for that's how many talented
women's work will be featured in
this extraordinary all woman's show.
Gallery owner, Kenneth King
shared his delight in being able to
present such "a creative and diverse
show, with such a wide range of
: mediums, executed by so many
: talented artist."
"The fact that this is an all
woman's show gives yet another
-dimension to this exhibition," Kind
continued.
I first came in contact with
.. Kindred Souls last September, when
: tbeir smash exhibit, "Spirit of Sur
• vival" opened at the Museum of
: African American History, and im-
• mediately knew that the quality and
diversity of their work warranted a
how of Art N' Soul.
THE SHOW "Sister Spirits" is
: indeed diverse, from Julia
Richardson-Pate's "Flame," a 50
. square inch mounted Arsihi Shiboria
wall hanging, to Venti Valdez's
three dimensional work enti tIed,
: "Eroding Africa" Ruth Goens,
: talented, and strongly expressive
.. SCUlptured un-glazed cermanics adds
yet another insight into the female
creative process with her handsome
piece, "Survival," and "The Four
Graces" a mixed media painting on
paper by Brenda Stroud is a viewer's
: delight.
Other exhibiting artists in "Sister
Spirits" are Lavern Reid-Homan,
mixed media, Denise Gipson, mixed
media, Pat Kabore,' fiber/mixed
Trade beads,
red, black and
green beads
Perhaps Detroit's
largest selection of

Pat Kabore, Organizational
Founder and Chair stated, "Our
primary mission is to expand the
audience of our ethnic women mem
bership, and to that extent we are
very pleased to be exhibiting at Art
N' Soul." "We the women of
Kindred Souls are creative Spirits
and our art ties us together as sisters,
so "Sister Spirits" is an appropriate
title for this exhibition" Kabore' con
tinued.
