Perot' a Te billionaire
b' man who electrified
a great groent of American
electorat . He i mounting
trong iIxJeperxlent campaign for
Pre ident against Republican
George Bush and his campaign
for re-election, and the
Democratic contendor, Goveoor
Bill Ointon.
PEROT HAS captured
attention of rece ion-weary
Americans because he offers
hope to their current d' ngage
ment and disillusionment.
Blacks, woo know th most about
disengagement and ali nation,
bould be looking for something
more this time from their ballot
bucks than just keeping "keeping
hope alive."
African-Americans need
someore woo can belp us gin
more bucks in our pockets, and
neighborhoods, and less
. promises from politicians for
equity "with all delibera speed."
Not only were we igrored by the
Bush aoo Reagan Administra
tions during lasr dozen years,
what have our Democratic
friends in the Congre and
stateoo done to help us get
equal shares of America's wealth
in the last 20 years?
, Doesn't it make sense for
Blacks to take a good long at what
an iOOepement campaign can do
to lp us get more power aIV1
political parity in America? Can
we continue to provide our ballots
to support traditional party can
didates into the next four years at
the risk of getting the same things
from them that we've gotten
before, the sum total of that being
littfe to oothing?
At the moment, majority
of people publicly supporting
Perot are white aOO middle class.
But this is the nuclel.6 of a nation
wide protest that goes across both
• parties and their philosophies.
These people think that rx:ither
Bt.M or Qinton have any ideas on
how to resolve America's social
nor.economic problems. If well-
• off:white people think that the
tra4itional caOOidates can't help
·their social and money woes,
from our, vantage point in the
pack, can Blacks afford to ignore
this people's phenomenal for
Perot? .
Isn't it time that we got more
: bang for our ballots? Could it be
said that when it comes to politics,
we are stuck on stupid? Before
BIaclcs throw their votes away
again this year, maybe we should
Perot what he would do for us
if be were at the helm.
, .
IN HIS commitment to a
mh-nceded balanced budget
. for the national government, can
we gain a promise from Perot for
fl.u¥!s to help the 00 percent of us
in the cities to get more in the way
of urban development for our
neighborOOods? The traditional
politicians have been "fixing to
get ready" to help us for far too
manyyem.
Many Blaclcs who say they
are "sick aOO tired of being sick
and tired," soould seek ways of
directly turning their lives around.
Blacks who still believe in the
power of their ballot sbould, at
least, give consideration to the
Perot Parade. Blacks woo hold a
course toward bigger bucks
through enterprise couldn't find a
bet1er. role model than Perot to lift
them to level of "rich eon-
tituen .".

NEW YORK. NY - Tony Brown,
televi ion commentator and nation

ni t, officially announced the
launch of the ijuy Freedom 900
Network, the first nationwide
telephone-based elf-help alliance
meant to assist the poor, small busi
ne e and the economic empower
ment of urban communities.
"America' first elf-help
telephone network" will connect
caller with businesse , profes
sionals and religious a om
munityorganizations.
The Buy Freedom 900 Network
offers programs and informational
services through 900 telephone
numbers. .
One of tho e programs - a na
tional shopping directory and busi
ness locator - helps callers find
communi ty businesses.
PROFIT FROM the calls to
the directory, 1-900-976-6670 (99,
cents a minute ; first minute $1.99),
are used to make loan guarantees to
start mall businesses for the needy
and the young to break the cycle of
poverty and to start young p ople
on the road to entrepreneurship.
"That's how we recycle money and
talent back into the community,"
Brown said.
The first Buy Freedom 900 Net
work business loan guarantee
recipient is Ms. Maxine Wilcox, a
52-year-old mother of six from
Sacramento, California.
The $8,000 loan will enable Ms. .
Wilcox' bridal dre s busin to
hire two of her daughters who are
currently on public as istance.
Twelve banks in Sacramento and
the Small Bu ine Administration
(SBA) refused her a loan.
"This kind of bureaucratic di -
crimination against the poor and
the re ulting social and economic
damage emphatically makes the
ca for elf-reliance," Brown
believes.
"We hope you will tell your
friends to call 1-900-976-6670 and
support our self-help businesse ,
therefore helping our loan pro
gram," he added .
IF YOU CALL 1-900-976-
6670 and press extension 4120, you
will hear this mother of six, who is
supported by a .monthly Social
Security disability payment, offer
you a discount and tell you how
Wedding Creations provides ex
pensive wedding gowns so inex
pensively that the average person
can afford a wedding.
"We hope you will support Max
. ine Wilcox and other loan guaran
tee recipients.
If you do, we can break the cycle
of poverty and chart a course of
success for thousands of needy
families and provide a gateway into
the world of business for motivated
young people," Brown believes.
