inaugural recipients of the Cathedral
Church of St. Paul Community Ser­
vice Award to be presented at a Sun­
day, June 14 dinner at the
Renaissance Cl ub in Renaissance
Center, Detroit, according to an an­
nouncement by the Very Reverend
Bertram Nelson Herlong, Dean of
the Cathedral. Tickets must be pur­
chased in advance by calling 831-

The Cathedral Church of St. Paul
at Woodward and Warren, Detroit, is
committed to community service
. through The Cathedral School, a
community school for grades kinder­
garten through six, Crossroads, a
ministry to the poor, and Williams
Pavillion and Cathedral Terrace,
housing units for senior citizens.
The Community Service Award
expressed the Cathedral's conviction
that the positive energy that is up­
building Detroit and improving the
quality of peoples' lives should be
held up to be an inspiration' and role
model for others.
Dade is Vice President, Human
Resources for the Detroit Edison
Company.
PREVIOUSLY AN employee of
the City of Detroit, he worked for the ,
Mayor's Committee on Human
Resources Development and the
Committee for Children and Youth.
He is on the board of Henry Ford
Hospital, the Citizens Research
Council, the Coleman A. Young
Foundation and the Detroit Zoologi­
cal Society.
He co-chaired the 1991-92
MUseum of African American His­
tory membership campaign. He is
on advisory committees at The
Cathedral School and WDET-FM.
Watson is executive director of
the Detroit Branch of the NAACP,
the Iargest branch in the nation.
She is a member of the Racial
JUstice Working Group of the Na­
tional Council of Churches and is a
member of the board of Black Fami-
1y Development, Inc., the Michigan
Coalition for Human Rights, the
Metropolitan Detroit YMCA, the na­
tional Council of Alcoholism and
other Dependencies and the State of
Michigan Secretary of State's Ad­
visory Committee on Voter

Rights Commission of the City of
Detroit and is immediate past presi­
dent of the National Interreligious
Commission on Civil Rights.
