in fed ral grants to improve ervice .
"The e grants are awarded under
the federal Library Service and
Con truction Act," Rep. Harrison
aid, "which i admini tered in thi
tate by the Library of Michigan,
I'm glad to see the e federal tax dol-
lars being put to uch good' u e.
They will help our local librarie ,
which in tum help our students and
anyone else looking for information
or just a good book to read."
Rep: Harrison said the Pontiac
Public Library has been awarded
15,000, which will support the
library's Intergenerational Literacy
project. "With these funds, the
library and the Oakland Literacy
Council will train enior citizen
volunteers to give educational sup-
port to young adults who want t�
learn to read or improve their skills,"
he aid. "Th fund will al 0 be used
to buy literacy material for use by
th young adults and volunteers."
In addition, the Oakland Wayne
Interlibrary Network was awarded
45,927 to convert over 80,000
library records to computer format
for u e in tatewide databa e of
available materials and information.
Seven libraries in the network will
install a total of fourteen computer
