$30-million equestrian
center of Belle Isle. Mayor
Coleman Young likes the
idea; some council mem

If the City Council ap
proves, developers would
lease 32 acres on the north
eastern tip of the city
owned island park,
renovate the 4O-stall horse
stable, refurbish ome 285
acres of trails and build the
academy, arena, hunt club
and amphitheater.
Developers, who won
approval from city officials
last week, say the plan
would provide 350 jobs,

WCCC c m-
palgn for tax
Wayne County Com
munity College last week
kicked off a campaign for a
one-mill county-wide tax
that voters will be asked to
approve August 4.
The 10-year tax would
provide bout $15 million
annually and would
replace a quarter-mill as
sessed by the Legislature
and a special tax grant.
The one-mill tax would
co t the owner of a
$100,000 home $50 a year,
a school official said.
The college is the only
two-year public institution
in Michigan that does not
have a voter-approved mil
lage.
