BBNTON HARBOR - At the April 27, Benton Har
bor City Commi ioner meeting, Commi ioner
George Wy ingermotioned tbatall city commissiners
take a drug test.
He said by the commissioners' taking the drug test
ould "send a signal to the cocaine- niffing and
reefer- ucking people out in the streets that they don't
h ve that problem in city hall. Then we won't have it
in our streets," he said.
"If we sit here and refuse to prove to the public and
the coke sniffers in the treets that we refuse to take a
dl'\1g tes t, how can we go out tbere and try to clean the
drugs off our streets," Wysinger aid.
When the motion fell, Wysinger ccused the com
Dli ion of having a "double tandard." He said it
would leave doubt in the taxpayers mind who they
have representing them.
Last year, former Mayor William Wolf surprised
the commission by having the Detroit Bio-Medical
Lab at the regular Monday night meeting to take
urinalysis test. The meeting w recessed until the
commissioners and former City Manager Steve Man
ning were tested. According to Wolf all that par
ticipated tested negative.
