Workbench Furniture are joining
forces in an effort to collect 750
.pieces of furniture over a
three-week period for families in
need throughout southeast
Michigan. The third ·Furniture
For Families· effort runs April 6
thru 26, 1992. A simultaneous
effprt will be underway in
southwestern Michigan,
including the Grand Rapids
areas, Battle Creek, Muskegon,
Holland, and Kalamazoo. Those
interested in making a donation of
usable furniture should call The
Salvation Army at

business hours to arrange
pick-up. All donations are
tax-deductible. Oonations of
furniture made btwn April 19-26
will earn people a 1 5' percent
discount off any item at
Workbench Furniture's
Southfield, Birmingham, Ann

FIne print collecting
The art devotee. novice collector or individual who simply wants
to understand fine prints will benefit from the May 6-20 "Perspectives
on Art program offered at Oakland University near Rochester. .
Prof. Carl F. Barnes, Jr., of the OU Department of Art and Art
History. will speak on "Recognizing, Colle and Protecting Fine
Prints. " Participants will view original prints the ·15th to 20th
century in the instructor's study collection as well his permanent
collection at home.
THE DIVISION of Continuing Education will present the lecture
from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Meadow Brook Hall Carriage House on campus:
"Collecting: Why Prints and Not Stock Certificates or Pork Belly
Futu�?", May 6�; "Co�e Up and See My Etchings Sometime: Major
Techniques m Pnntmaking and How To Recognize Them," May 13;
and "The Care and Feeding of Fine Prints: Basic Principles of Con­
servation and Framing," May 20.
