They're concerned about the many fac­ tors that too often can rule out any dre of college. The crisis facing our young men has compened the Club=­ men to become involved in their liv before they head in the wrong direction. That make good en e. Role model are important in the lives of youngsfers, especially Bl ck male youth. THIS WO DER UL group of dedicated men will worlC with the local YMCA to provide after- chool ctivities, upport service , and career counseling to middle- chool tudent . Specifically, the Clubmen will be mentors to these youngsters. Providing them with excellent role models reinforces the fact that African American men and women succeed in the workforce everyday. Too many lack a trong male in­ fluence who can guide them in a po itive direction. Westchester Clubmen President Hugh Price is en­ thusiastic abOut the project. He understands bow impor: tant it i for � people to take responsibility for th1s nation's children. "We adults have to deliver the nuturing envimo­ ment in order for children to take advantage of oppor­ tunities, "he ays. Mr. Price joined tbe Club­ men seven years ago and be­ came president last year. He has been commited to helping children his adult life, begin­ ning with his' experience at yare University .Even as a law student he was a social group worker responsible for six adolescents referred by the juvenile court. "We met three afternoons a week to discuss goals, aspirati ons and �roblems," recaJIs Mr. Price. We (Price and his wife) did whatever we could do to bond with them." We all can learn some lessons from the Clubmen's efforts. They are touching the lives of youngsiers. And who know ?
