The remodeling market is booming - here are a few Building
Industry facts:
• Home improvement expenditures have grown 36 percent
since 1985 and are predicted to grow from 110 billion in 1988 to
$121 billion in 1989.
• The U.S. housing base continues to age. Today, 87.3 percent of
all households (single family units) were built before 1975. These
homes are prime candidates for remodeling.
• Remodeling expenditures are also growing. The average
homeowner will spend 16 percent of his/her current home value
on remodeling projects. With an average mean home value of
$113.000. this translates to an $18.000 project.
• "Ught" is the No.1 consideration for homeowners. research
shows. when adding a room. impl"OVing a kitchen or a bathroom.
