THE CURRENT Tiger
Stadium proposal will allow
the Tigers to build a new
stadium financed by a luxury
tax. This luxury tax will
appl y to' every restaurant
from Fl ming Embers to
White Castle to Joe's Smokin
Bar-B-Que Ribs. We will be
t xed for the next twenty
years and till, we will con
tinue to see police laid off in
our neighborhoods, poor gar
bage pick up, chools that ur
gently need financial support
and people who sleep In the
streets.
How dare our political
leaders come up with an idea
to help build a new stadium
while they sit silently watch
ing the real problems our city
is facing?
And one last note, when
ever you hear the Tigers talk
ing about leaving Detroit if
we don't build them a
'stadium, keep in mind that
they signed a 30 year lease.
The landlord, DETROIT,
should just renovate the
stadium to the tenants ap
proval and enforce the lease.
This way we can put our
resources and energy toward
what Detroit really needs.
