We need new goals for our educational institution that are grander than just getting a JOB! We need and education­ al ystem that stre e the goals of Education to Govern! An educational system that promotes the idea of having POWER! One that promotes the idea of autonomy and ownership, if independence. We need a system that en­ courages us as a race to be­ come thinkers, to be problems solvers. Our educational ystem can no longer teach the limited Eurocentric view of the world! It must take on an African-centered perspective that will work to strengthen our self-awarenes , our self­ love, our self-respect, our self-esteem. . Our educational system will work to enrich our com­ munity and encourage our people and our community to develop it on conclusion and to develop it on independent decisions. We need an educational system that will encourage us to again become the proud and prosperous race' that we were. We must work hard to begin taking the political responsibility of becoming leaders, governors, entrepreneurs, intellectuals and politically- and socially­ responsible human beings. Why is the 1992 presidential campaign already boiling over wi th praises and condemnations of 'David puke, George Bush, Mario Cuomo, Clarence Thomas, the NAACP and others? ' The answer to these questions lie in the term "affirmative ac­ tion" and how it affects different people. Most seem to think it denote special treatment or preferred handling.
