Thanksgiving Day literally, is a
holiday celebrating the beginning
of the almost total extermination of
an entire race of people commonly
known a "Indians"; and the
enslavement, continued oppression
and genocide of Africans by
European settlers.
For over 100 years now, Black
folks in the United States have joined
wi th the de cendents of the same
European murderers who enslaved
them and, ystematically all but
destroyed the American Indian in
feasting and giving thanks to God for
the opportunity to live in one of the
mos t racist, imperialistic and
oppressive countries on Earth.
Black people celebrating
Thanksgiving Day is like Americans

Harbor,
Did you know .. that the Spaniards
considered "Indians" just one step
above the beast? They called them
"Genre Sin Razon'-"People
Without Reason." Finding them
unwilling and useless laborers, they
massacred them and fed their flesh to
dogs. LaCasa's account of this is one
of the most horrifying of all
documents on man's inhumanity to
man.
They even ent "Indians" to b
sold in Europe. Columbus himself
took 400 'there in 1498.
IN 1621, TIlE COLONI TS set
aside July 30th a the day of
celebration for their survival through
the first bitter winter, which had
destroyed over half their numbers.
In the autumn of 1621, Governor
Bradford of Mas achusetts issued a
proclamation calling for a
Thanksgiving Celebration feast to
commemorate the gathet1ng of tbe
first harvest.
Connecticut whi tes massacred
the Pequot Indians. infants we .
tom from their mother's breast. The
-heads of the parents were chopped
off and kicked about in the treets.
Gov. Bradford wrote: "It was a
fearful ight to see them frying in the
fire and streams of blood quenching
the same, and terrible was the stinch
and stink thereof, but the vistory
seemed a sweet sacrifice and they,
the Whites, gave praise thereof ,to
gesture of their kindness no doubt,
blankets infested with smallpox,
annihilating thousands of the few
remaining "Indians. tt
In spite of thi grue orne reality,
every year, on Thanksgiving Day,
Americans, in a trange and
gl uttonou ri t ual, overs tuff
themselves with turkey and other
delicacies then proceed to recline in
a hypnotic trance to watch the
football game. Some scholar
believe that this custom of watching
the football game on Thanksgiving

POEMS
You walked pass the eyes of my life
moving gracefully-
like a lione casually trolling
through the jungle--
maje tic head held erect,
shoulders thrown defiantly b ck,
full breast protruding magnificently,
and your shapely hips swayed ofdy
to the music of the wind.
When I finally noticed you,
I was intoxicated with your beauty.
You reminded me of art-

for the first time
after 300 years of ignorance,
knew,
I had been renewed.

What's wrong with selling drugs?
By DR. CHARLES W. FAULKNER
A longtime American imtitution,
the Black Family, no longer exists in
the traditional American form. Ask
almost any Black person and they
will tell you about their fatherless
family, a teenage daughterwho has a
young child, a on who has been
arrested at least once, a father who
left home years ago but is regularly
seen leeping in doorways and guz
zling alcohol. The mother of cour ,

out of her mind.

prosperous in America. Education
doesn't necessarily lead to success in
America (ask anyone of thousands
of Black college gr duates who can't
get jobs). If you are Black, you will
not be able to get a decent ,apartment
or house inmost neighborhoods (read
the recently-published report on hous
