Benton Harbor City offi
cials are telling the people that
are riding around with their
mu ic bla ting, " top the
music or you'll pay."
Thi is good news for me
and bad news for others. The '
good ne ome city i·
dents might get a chance to get
a good nights leep for a
change since the City of Ben
ton Harbor has established a
policy, etIective immediately,
for' people that re caught
riding down the tree or
parked playing loud music in
their cars.
The bad news is, in
dividuals that are caught with
their music blasting will have
thei r vehicle seized as
evidence under the city's noise
ordinance.
ety Manager Steve Man
ni ng aid the city will no
longer tolerate the loud music.
"WE'RE GOING TO
treat the cars that are sited or
get complaints about people
riding up and down the alleys
ways of the streets distrubing
the peace, the arne as we
would any other car that's in
volved in a crime - namely
we're going to seize it and
hold it as evidence," Manning
said.
According to Manning, if
an individual get caught and
tlieirvehicle i impounded, the
owner will have to pay for the
charge of towing and torage.
If an individual i con
victed on the noise violation,
they can get the maximum
penalty of 9O-days in jail or
pay a $500 fine.
