The oldest of twelve Siblings, Parker learned early how to ad­ minister to the needs of others. Responsibility for the upbringing of his brothers and sisters led Parker to the helping profession. According to a recent U-M con­ ference report, 12 percent of the U.S. population is Black, but only 2.6 per­ cent of the 142,000 U.S dentists were Black in 1999._the same percentage as in 1980 and 1970. "WORKING IN THE Com­ munity was really important to all of us," Campbell says. "It was and is crucial that we not forget where we come from and give back to the com­ munityas much as possible."
