It was only a few weeks ago that some Benton Harbor City Commis- . sioners were wondering why An thony didn't complain when the Board cut his salary from $35,700 to $26,800 a year in DDA/fIFA budget for the year 1991-91. When commissioners asked An thony why his salary was being cut, he only stated, "I can't answer that. I have no response. I'm presenting what the Board asked me to present to you," (tak i ng about the DDNTIFA budget for the fiscal year 1991-92). It was obvious Anthony knew he was leaving the city for another job. According to Anthony he inter viewed for the Allegan city manager's job in July' as well as ap plied for other job throughout the state. He said he turned down a posi tion with Menominee County in the Upper PenninsuJa. ANTHONY SAID HE will begin his new job September 3, as city manager for the City of Allegan. He, said the posi tion was advertised with a salary of $35,000 plus DOQ (depending on qualifications). Al legan has been wi thout a city manager since June. Anthony began working with the City of Benton Harbor in 1988, as Community Services Director and in January 1989 he took on the job as Executive Director for DDAfflFA. Anthony said he didn't know if the Board had anyone in mind to fill his place, but he would recommend to the executive board to advertise for the position, "give the whole world ashot." Anthony, who now resides in Lin coln Township will be moving to Allegan because it is required that the city manager live in the city. He said his wife, Linda Anthony, Ben 'ton Harbor City's assessor will be staying in Benton Harbor for awhile. Anthony said he is, "looking for ward to a new challenge." "I have been aiming for this position for a long time," he added. Anthony's son is also employed by the city water department. SUN. 8 a.m. - 6 p.m. SUN.
