LEGAL NOTICE ND E TO OROl CE NO. 16.000 UNI ORM TRAFFIC CODE TH CHARTER TO SHIP OF BENTON ORDAINS AS OLtX>WS: BENTON CHARTER TOWNSHIP HAS PREVIOUSLY STABLISHED AN ORDINANCE KNOW AS THE UNIFORM TRAFFIC CODE WHICH IN PART ESTABLISHES PENALTIES FOR PARKING VIOLATIONS WHICH OCCUR WITHIN BENTON CHAR­ TER TOWNSHIP. WHEREAS, THE TOWNSHIP BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CHARTER TOWNSHIP OF BEN­ TON HAS DETEnMINED THAT IT IS IN THE BEST INTEREST OF THE TOWNSHIP AND IT'S CITIZENS THAT PENALTIES WHICH ARE IMPOSED FOR THE VIOLATION OF THE PARIONG PROVISIONS OF THE UNIFORM TRAFFIC CODE BE INCREASED AND THEREFORE, SECTION 8.27 (0 AND (g) BE AMENDED AS FOLLOWS: T,HE CHARTER TOWNSHIP OF BENTON ORDAINS: Section 8.27 <0 of the Uniform Traffic Code be as follows: (f) The schedule of penalties for parking violations hall be as fol­ lows: 1) If payment is made at the Park­ ing Violation Bureau within forty eight (48) hours of issuance of notice, Saturday , Sundays and hol­ idays excepted: Ov rtime parking violations 5.00 All other parking violations $5.00 If payment is made after the first forty eight (48) house but before the expiration of fifteen (15) days:L Overtime parking violations $10.00 All other parking violations $10.00 If payment i mad after the first fifteen (15) day but before the expiration of thirty (30) days: Overtime parking violations $15.00 All other parking violations $15.00 If payment is made after thirty (30) days: Overtime parking violations $20.00 All other parking violations $20,00 Section -8.27 (g) of the Unifonn Traffic Code be as follows: (g) If a violator of the restrictions on parking under the Uniform Traffic Code of the township shall not appear in response to notice affixed to such vehicle within thirty (30) days, the Parking Violations Bureau shall send to the owner of the motor vehicle to which the notice was affixed a notice inform­ ing him/her of the violation and warning him/her that he/she will be held responsible for the appear­ ance of the offender and that in the event such notice is disregarded for a period of five (5) days a com­ plaint will be filed in the District Court for the County of Berrien having jurisdiction. Accepted bid of Communications Data Corporation for the purchase of a dual band portable radios for the Police Dept. at a cost of $1,225.00 each. Adopted an amendment to the Uni­ form Code providing for an increase in parking ticket fees. Authorized the Fire Chief to attend a conference in Toronto, Canada. Held Truth in Taxation Public Hearing and received c(jmm�ts. Deemed necessary the St. James, St. Thomas & Doda Street water line. Approved Michigan Liquor Control Commission resolution request from Nancy & Thomas E. Howe for transfer of ownership of 1991 Class C licensed business located at 105 Higman Park from Josephine & Virgil E. Binnion. Authorized transfer of $67,224.00 from General Fund to Police Fund. Approved payment of Generall------F-O�R-R�E ... N ... T�----­ Fund bills in the amount of $87,799.07 and Sewer Fund bills i amount $4,086.71. Authorized the Police Chief to attend a New Chief School in Lansing, Michigan.
