The Southwestern Michigan
Volunteer Center, is in need of vol un­
teers. For more information and
volunteer opportunities, please call
983-0912 in the St. Joseph-Benton
Harbor area or 683-5464 in the Niles
area. Volunteers are needed in the
following:
- Berrien General Hospital
cares for 165 long term care residents
who would welcome a special some­
one to spend time with.
- Comlllunity Service Harvest
Garden in Buchanan is in need of
volunteers to help with supervision
of court-assigned community ser­
vice workers on Tuesday, Thursdays
or Saturdays from 8 a.m. until 12
noon.
- The St. Jo eph-Llncoln
Thwnshlp Senior Center is seeking
volunteer van drivers for Mondays
or Tuesdays from 8:15 a.m. until 3
p.m. The prospective volunteer must
have a valid driver's license. Train­
ing and orientation will be provided.
- Volunteer needed at a FamUy
Fun Festival, benefitting the Make­
A- Wish Foundation and Curious
Kids' Museum on Saturday, August
10, from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m in St.
Joseph. �lunteer help i needed for
set-up on Friday, August 9th, and for
help with the various activities, tick­
et sales on the day of the Festival, as
wellas take-down at the completion

- The LO IT (Learning Oppor­
tunities for Teens) is a place where
Benton Harbor teens can go to learn,
relax and share experiences with
others. Open from 4-9 p.m. on Mon­
days, Tuesdays and Thursday • the
LOFT depends heavily on volunteer
support. Volunteers work one-to-one
with the teens on computer projects,
developing listening kills. Sporting
activities· and recreational activities
such as board games and community
proejcts.
- The We Can Ride 4-H Club
is seeking teens and adults to help
with its handicapped horseback
riding program held in the early eve­
ning one night a week in rural Benton
Harbor.
- Planned Parenthood A -
soclatlon of Southwestern Michigan
is seeking volunteers to erve as in­
take workers at the Benton Harbor
Clinic. The hours are from 10-12
noon on Tuesdays and/or Wednes­
days. Because of training necessary
for these positions, a one-year com­
mitment is requested of all volun­
teers.
