Peace Corp Ign up for Zimbabw
WASHINGTON-Peace Corps Director PauJ D, Coverdell and
leading Zimbabwe government officials si$ned an historic
agreement Monday, March 18th, in Harare. Zimbabwe, estab­
lishing the first Peace Corps program in the African nation.
Zimbabwe Peace Corp volunteers will go into training for the
program beginning in September. There will be 20 to 2S
Americans teaching math, science and vocational education.
Zimbabwe, previou Iy known as Rhodesia, i a nation of over
even million people located in southern Africa.
Director Coverdell visited the Republic of Zimbabwe last
June to continue talks leading to the development of a Peace
Corps program. He is returning Monday to finalize and sign a
formal country agreement.
Peace Corps program only operate at the invitation of a
