just beyond the centerfold, six
pages of "MUSKEGON"
magazine come alive with bril
liant picture. and a homey story,
that only Citizen's corre pon
dent. Elgie Bright II could have
written. In submitting this
original article, Mr. Bright be
came the magazine'S first African
American contributor.
With a little humor, years of
experience. and many fond
memories, ,Bright takes the
reader from the personnel office
to the shipping dock of a foundry, •
painting occupation. r--..------------------------------------
"All t 0 often, he explains,
"Foundryrne n are "thought to be
men wi th weak minds and strong
back ... [partly because there
arc/were many Blacks and For
eigners in the industry] It ain't
necessarily so,"
IRONICALLY THE accom
panying photos were not taken at
the plant[ s 1 in which Mr. Bright
worked the bulk of his foundry
years. Admidst the rubble of
demolished Plant #1 in Mus

Bright. recently graduated
from Muskegon Community Col
lege, where he amassed well over
100 credit hours working toward
dual a sociate degrees - Science
(Graphics) and Arts (English).
to be INFORMED!
He states, "all his teachers and
mentors deserve an 'assist' for
their help and inspiration toward
the publication of his first offer
ing to Muskegon Magazine." His
planned summer article, "In
Search of a Goal mind" will ex
press more full y his thanks to
them as, it deals wi th the turmoils
of a returning non-traditional stu

Mr. Bright has also been ap
pointed to the communications
team of Muskegon's branch of
the NAACP, by president Billy
Gilf along with another Mus
