of w r in the Gulf. Accordingly we c 11 for the-immediate ce sa
tion of ho tilitie and the resumption of diplomatic initiative, in
particular by the Secretary General of the United Nation, to
rrive at a pe ceful resolution of all relevant issue.
We believe th t the following are critic I to the ettlemcnt of
the conflict in the Gulf:
The withdra al of Iraq from Kuw it and the re elution of the
di pure between tho e two countrie . through bilateral negotia-
tion ; ,
The withdr al of the Untied State and other foreign force
from the Gulf;
The convening of an International Conference to elaborate a
comprehen ive settlement of the Middle East question which
would restore the national rights of the Palestinian people, oblige
Israe to withdraw from Jl occupied Arab lands, and ensure the
, security �l countries in tbe region.
We further wish to express our opposition to efforts by the
white minority Pretoria government to fan the flames of war in
the Gulf and draw our country into this tragic' conflict by en
couraging ome of the belligerents and offering them facilities in
