cide with the 60th anniver-
ary of the founding of the
Nation of Islam in Detroit,
and will celebrate the Oct. 7
birthday of the group
founder. the late �Iijah
Muhammed, who died in
1975.

The Museum was awarded
the grant to help defray c� ts

and pre enting the exhibi
tion, "The Pres For
Freedom: African American
New paper , 1827 - 1987."
Expected to open the summer
of 1991. the exhibiton will
chronicle the hi tory 0 the
African American Pre. and
highlight it. achievement by
featuring photograph., or
ginal newspapers, letter,
and three dimensional ar
ti facts.
