It s a beautiful June
morning, and that made the
people of Barton McFarlane
eighborbood Association that "
much more eager to get the
parade on the way.
Barton McFarlane eigb­
borbood Association and its af­
filiated block clu held their
eighteenth Annual Clean­
UplFix-Up/Paint-Up P rade.
The vehicles started assem­
bling on Cheyenne Street ai
Joy Ro d, and were beautifully
decorated.
The Detroit P'o Ii ce
Department's 2nd Precinct
managed to hold back traffic,
which allowed the parade to
move aero major streets
without any difficulty. The
number of participants appear
to be increa ing each year.
After th parade, the fes­
tivitie were held at the Ham­
merberg Field, located at
Chicago and Wyoming Street.
Again the 2nd precinct at 0
was pre ent and their presence
wa agai n very much wel­
comed.

do good things in their spare
time. Mistres of· Ceremony
was Mrs. Barbara Washington.
Jo eph Walker Williams urged
the community to stick
together. He complimented the
police for their h lp in making
the parade a succe . A man
with many years of community
experience, as well as
knowledge behind him. Wil­
liams is a legend; a welJ
respected citizen and loved by
many if not all the people who .
know him.

again inviting familie to par-
ticipate in the'1990 Detroit
Leisure Education Project .at
I Mackenzie High School.
Barton McFarlane wel­
comes anyone interested to join
in fitness fun recreation and
leisure information program for
family members. The project
begins June 26 - Augu t 2 on
Tuesdays, Wednesdays. and
Thursdays, from 5 to 9 pm,
