Compo ed of an attorney and education pecialist, ba ed in Atlanta, the team works closely together and with the local branche of the AACP to identify and respond to discriminatory educational policies and practices throughout the area. In 1989 the Education Team achieved significant gains in-a number of school ystems throughout the South. For example, - in Miami-Dade County, florida, the chool board agreed to work with the president and former pre ident of the local NAACP branch, well the team's education specialist, to ensure culturally based schooling. The board also voted to incorporate a m ul t i-cul tural/m ul ti -ethnic curricul urn into the school system by 1990. In Amite County, Mi i ippi the team persuaded the bool board to appoint blac nior level administrator and to work with a newly organized biracial commi tl. c to hrrc more black-based admini trators.
