The company has already moved
production of Its 24" and 8- re

Mexico, where workers earn $9 a

its Reynosa m uitadora plant.
In its five remaining unionized
U.S. plants, Whirlpool i determined
to cut pay and institute a two-tier
wage tructure. In February, mem

Indiana accepted a $1.71 an hour cut,
COLA elimination, and a two-tier
schedule.
Last year, member' ofUAW Local

UNION FIGHTBACK
. When Local 370' contract ex

its olidarity campaign. Workr

lawns to publicize their campaign to
the Fort Smith community ..
The local organizes olidarity
marches around the plant involving
500 to 2000 workers at the end of the
shift once a week. To discourage at

sistant to the AlW president, says,
"we will have created a really great
local of volunteer organizers. We've
never had this level of participation
before." .
To complement the local's solidar

corporate campaign. The main tactic

have called both the union and the
corporauon to complain about AIW
