artist, Leroy Foster not. only wit
nessed history, but invited over
200 gu to join them in the
making of it they celebrated
the grand opening of 'Gallery
Leroy', Michigan's first Black
arts museum, at the home of the
American BI ck Artists (ABA)
Inc., located at 2641 West
Grand Boulevard on Tuesday

The image on Foster's card,

Foster's murals speak for

recommend Gallery Leroy to all
talented artists who have
nowhere to display their wor .
J axon said in addition to
Foster, Gallery Leroy will give
recognition to the talents many
other Blac artists.
J axon said Gallery Leroy will

become great" but would not
otherwise have access to the
public, as ell as offer classes in
the field of fine arts, including
sculpting, painting, and ad
vanced photography.
° Jaxon said since ABA's in
ception in 1965, it has been an
outlet for the implementation of
major art exhibits such as "Art
from a Blac Perspective", and
"Roots In America".
He said the ABA association
made its mark in the City's his
tory upon its creation of the
Cultural Opportunity for
Detroit Exchange (CODE),
and the Program for Alterna
tive Creative Education
(PACE).
Jaxon said, 'The goal of ABA
is to change Detroit's prior
image from the "Murder capi
tal" to the "Renaissance City,
and I think we have ac
complished this,"

Eric Foster, a J ac son State
University student is trying to
make it as a rapper.
Foster professionally known
as Ox Lover will soon rap before
a live audience in Hollywood.
Foster has been rapping
professionally for about 4 year .
After a long hard road he
has no been acquainted with
the right people and soon will
release his first maxi-cassette
single.
Foster is also negotiating
with producers from the Ar
senio Hall Show to make his
first national television ap
pearance.
The special cassette will fea
ture such songs as "Time After
Time", "9 Pounds", and two
other potential hits.
These songs are currently
being aired on J ackson Radio
Stations.
The album wa written by
Foster and produced by Ocean
. Blue/A.C.E Records in Jack
son.Mi .

Fo ter said he loves He vy D'

rappers should be judged by
their abilities. Foster said that
he gets his inspiration for songs
from his personal experiences
or what he sees on campus.
Fo ter's career is starting to
pick up, but he a18 he is going
to fmish his education. Foster
says without education uccess
isn't worth it.
