pearancees adding their spice'
to a few tunes as the tumultuous
audience' rose to its feet and
waved hands of appreciation for
the performers unparalleUed

The Winans feature Marvin,
Carvin, Michael and Ronald.
Also, behind the scene ere

his wife of twelve years Vickie,
who is also from Detroit, said
she was a singer prior to meet

She said being brought up in
the church, children didn't real
ly have a choice of what to do.
She said, "AU 12 of us had to be
in the choir and the Easter
programs, reciting speeches
and singing solos. So, when my
singing started ounding good I
worked on it til it go better d

He added, "And sometune
the Lord just drops a song in "y
heart." He said he then consults
his "right ear" (Vickie) where
they sometimes stay up as late as
4 a.m. singing around the pifmo.
Marvin said he no on!, en
joys being a member of a close
knit family, are the Wmans,
but it is all he's ever known. He
said, "We may havtr dif-
ferences within the . y, b
we defy any outsider to have a
negative say bout us."
He said this clo ene is
reflected in many of the songs
on their latest release "Return",
one especially entitled "When
You Cry". Its lyrics are: "When
you cry, love one, makes me cry,
dear one don't you know you
never cry alone."
Vickie, also from a large
family, said, When God is in the
family there's always someone
stable to turn to, because con
flicts wiU ari e, but when you
don't have God on your side or
in your family then you have no
refuge." 1
The Winans appeared in
Detroit as a stop on their six-

chased a new home. She said the
entire group knows that·the will
of the Lord comes first" and all
believe it's God's will for them
to go out and minister to the
"lost" as well as the "saved".
Vickie said we don't just ing
Go pel music we live Gospel
