December 20, 1989, Mayor
Martha G. Scott presented ten
awards to businesses and block
clubs for pecific improvements
made to enhance the quality of
life in Highland Par .
The 1989 Bu iness Stai
Award w presented to Brown
Eatery Res au rant,
Circle K Food Store, Bill's
pon Ivanhoe Supermarket
and McDonald' Restaurant­
Highland Park. The businesses
received awards for making im-
provements to their buildings
through exterior or interior
renovations, additions, etc.
Five Block Clubs were
recipients of the 1989 Neigh­
borhood Beautifications
Award. Waverly #2 Block
Club, Brighton Street Block
Club, Florence Street Block
Club, Cortland Block Club and
Avalon Street Block Club
received the award.
Neighborhoods and bu i­
nesses were encourage<t to con­
tinue working in partnership to
move Highland Park forward.
The Mayor also selected four
winners (two Detroiters and
two Highland Parkers in the
1989 "Holiday Shop-in-High­
land Park" Campaign.
