The program was designed to help identify qualified Blac students who need greater exposure to career and leadership opportunities. Interns are directly involved with the legislative process per­ forming such tasks as research and bill analysis, constituent problem solving, They attend legislative essions, public hear­ ings, and meetings with other agenci s and government offi­ ciaIs. Participant are selected on a compe . tive basis and receive a stipend of $500 following the successful completion of their internship.
