After' World War II, Japan
was a defeated and devastated
nation. But today its eoonomy
ranks as one of, if not the, most
productive in the world.
be Japanese are making
themselves, both as a nation and
as individuals, wealthier and
wealthier ..
How h ve they been able to
f . ccomplish such amazing
conomic feats? And, are there
any lesson American Blacks
,can take from tbe Japanese in
order to improve our own
economic situation?
I think there are four primary
reasons for the amazing success
of the Japanese. In addition,
there is a fot 'Blacks cad learn
from what the Japanese have
done.
I - THE JAPANESE ARE
SERIOUS -ABoUT
BUSINESS·
. The Japanese long ago came
to the realization ·that in order
for their island natioh to
prosper they bad to build busi-
n which could competitive
ly seD goods and services to the
world. As a result of this realiza
tion, the Japanese are now the
export champions of the world.
This is lesson number one fo
U.s. Blacks: our economic
status and our social atus in
