and one of the labels would help
in warning women of this
danger.
Judy Markusse, an aide to
Brown, said Conyers' bill and
Brown's three-bill package have

fetal alcohol syndrome each
year, and more than that are

lANSING - A 19-bill pack­
age introduced by a Detroit
legislator would develop a new
comprehensive Children and
Family Services Agency.

"The process will be a long

Sloan, an aide to Rep. Teola
Hunter.
The package would create
the new agency in the Depart­
ment of Management and
Budhget.
"Ihe legislati takes a com­
p ehensive look at transferring
services and housing them under
one roof," Sloan said
She said Hunter chaired a
committee last year' that had
hearings around the state, and
the idea for the new agency
came from those hearings.
Sloan said the idea to create
a new agency has been around
for a while.
"The Judiciary has recom­
mended children s depart­
ment, and the government has
recommended a children's
agency," Sloan said. "All three
branches, of government have
been taking a 100 at it"
The 19-bill package would:
