The two day affair, sponsored . ointly by Historical Research I Repository and Wayne County Community College, as a first of its kind to ever have b eld in America. The event ho ored - descendants of pioneer f . lies named in a state-author zed book, Negroes in Michiga His­ \9ry, a document publis ed 713 years 0 in 1915. , The Friday I night certificate Awards Ceremony was high­ lighted by the presence of Dr. 'Ronald J. Temple, president, WCCC; Blandina Rose, Execu­ tive Deail, WCCC, Northwest campus; Arthur M. tarter, Chairman, Wayne County Com­ mission and State Senator Jackie Vaughn, II, who pre ented the Descendant cer­ ti cates. Descendants from Illinois, North Carolina, D.C., Flint, Pontiac, Grand Rapids, Lans­ ing, Cass County, Ypsilanti, Ann Arbor, and of course Detroit, were present for the Awards Ceremony and reception which followed the program.
