City Council voted to take no ac­ tion on 14 of the 17 agenda items brought brought before it by various officials at the March 7 council meeting. The council agenda consists of different items requested for action by the mayor, the city at­ torney, city cler and different city departments. The city clerk has the responsibility to hand it to the council the week before ' the meeting. Council President Lindsay - Porter stated the clerk's office 1 did not give them enough time to study the issue or talk with department heads about the reasons for their requests. Highland Park Community ollege's Performing Arts Center (PAC) has been awarded a grant from Arts Mid­ west in support of its presenta­ tion of The Dayton Contem­ p rary Dance Company (OCDC) on Feb. 10-13. The P A received this award based on its continuity and quality of programming, ac­ cording to Dr. Paul Merritt. From Feb. 10-12, 1988, DCDC provided a series of lec­ ture/demonstration workshops and a master's class. due to in­ climate weather, the perfor­ mance on Feb. 13, 1988 had to be cancelled. Such ob­ servers add that the concil­ liatory pproach of the mayor's office may represent a desire of the newly installed Mayor Mar­ tha Scott to respect this desire for independence. When asked about this the next day, Highland Park City Cler Jean Green stated that her office handed the agenda to the council Wednesday March 2, which was the third day, al­ though she estimated it at 2 p.m., two hours after the charter's 12:00 noon deadline.
