Construction began last week for redesigning the one­ block section of Agard be­ tween Pipestone Avenue and Weld Street, said Die Muir, senior vice president for erey-Memorial Medical Center, Inc., St. Joseph-Ben­ ton Harbor. Drivers picking up or drop­ ping off patients or visitor will be the only through traffic allowed on Agard. Those motorists will continue to use Agard to enter the circle drive in front of Mercy's lobby. The circle drive will remain one-way south, as will Agard between the circle drive and Weld Street. Buren Private Industry Coun­ cil's newest memer is Joe Ed­ wards, District Manager of Michigan Rehabilitation Ser­ vices in Benton Harbor, ac­ cording to PIC Chairperson TyWallace. Edwards began his work as District Manager in June, 1987, at the Benton Harbor of­ fice. He previously worked as Services Supervisor for Michigan Rehabilitation Ser­ vices in Kalamazoo from July 1984 until being named to his new position. Edwards welcomes his ap­ pointment by the Chief Elected Officials of the tri­ county area, and hopes to "strengthen the MRS-PIC relationship to better help those individuals eligible for both service agencies." Both agencies provide funds for On­ the-J ob training for eligible residents of the three coun­ ties, according to Edwards. Edwards came to outh­ we tern Michigan from Wayne County, where he served as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor for 12 years. He has a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts de­ gree in vocational re abilita­ tion from Wayne tate Univer­ sity. He has a eventeen-year­ old son who is a senior at John Glen High School in Wayne County. According to Edwards, Michigan Rehabilitation Ser­ vices is a part of the Depart­ ment of Education, while the PIC is part of the Department of Labor in Michigan.
