niversary Banquet for the Nor

ovember 7, at the Temple of
I AM located on Hamilton at

The Men's Forum is dedi
cated to improving the quality
of life in Highland Park, ac
cording to Forum Chairperson
Earl Wheeler.
Wheeler says the
Winchester Awards Banquet
begins the tradition of honor
ing youths who have made out
standing contributions towards
improving community life and
those who have exhibited
responibilities through such
qualities as respect for
authority, reliability, honesty,
trustworthiness and courtesy,
Wheeler said.
The banquet is being held
in honor of orman
Winchester, who has fallen ill
but was, at one time, a very ac
tive citizen in the community
Wheeler said. The Forum
members thought it would be
an opportune time to honor
him.
Winchester. was much in
volved with the youths of High
land Par in such activities as
the AACP, Citizen's Ad
visory Council where he
recieved an award, Wheeler
said. Winchester was also the

for a number of years, and the
director of the Citizen's Patrol.
Approximately 200 youth
and other citizens in the com
munity signed up to wor with
him in his campaign to help
make Highland Park a safer
community.
Wheeler says, "The award
honors youths not normally
recognized, but those who ex
emplify in their behavior,
qualities essential to the com
munity,"
