Like MD.'s, D.O.'s attend four years of medical school. Upon completion, D.O.'s undergo an internship, which is a one-year training program, at an osteopathic teaching ho pital like Detroit Osteopathic Hospital. If a D.O. chooses to special- ize such in obstetrics or ited pediatrics, he or she must com plete a residency training program which lasts one to six years depending on the specialty. Additionally, like M.D!s, D.O.'s are required to meet state licensing requirements before entering into practice. They are also required to upgrade their skills and learn new medical developments through continuing medical education, Allen said. H community resients would like to tour the hospital during the wee of celebra tion, call 252-4089 to make ar rangements, Allen invited.
