Black Music Awards were
held on Detroit's beautiful
riverfront at the Ford
Auditorium.
With over 2,500 persons in
attendance, the enthusiasm cJf
the audience as undeniable.
Success of the evening was

contributions of African­
Americans in music and enter­
tainment. Proceeds went to
the Blac . Music Awards
Scholarship Fund
During the evening, great
performances were given by

Living Proof Rhonda Clark,
Blues Confidential Band, Ron
Banks, Caprice and the Spin­
ners.

Detroit students gain health training experience
The nineteenth annual Sum­
mer Exploratory Experience
Program (project S.E.E.) has
been funded for the summer
of 1987.
Project S.E.E., a program
designed to place tenth,
eleventh and twelfth grade stu­
dents in hospitals, nursing
homes and physician's office,
is a six-week inter ship for
High School edical Careers
Club members.
A tipend of 250 will be
paid t participants who com­
plete the internship experience.
Project S .. E. as con eived
by the late Evelyn Palmer who
was the Detroit Public Schools
Medical Careers Coordinator for
many ears. Palmer was instru­
mental in securing the coopera­
tion of local physicians, hos­
pital and other rnedi al
facilities as well as the initial
funding for the program to
operate.
The program which is no
known as the Evelyn Palmer
Project S.E. Program, has re­
ceived funds thi year from
the James and Lynelle Holden
Fund and Blue ro /Blue Shield
of ichigan. pproximately
125 students ill be a signed
to various medical sites for
5 hour per day for 6 wee s.
Project S. .E. ill operate_
under the leadership of Dr.
Joyce . Tibbs Bobby hite­
head and Laura Livingston of
the system and arilyn Webb
of Blue Cross/Blue Shield of
Michigan.
