JOSEPH - The South­ we ichigan Community Gro th Alliance ( CGA) will continue to focu it atten­ tion on retaining the area's exi ing industry, and attracting busine s similar to tho currently here. The are the finding of an 'Interim Strategy" recently dopted by the S CGA. The rategy examined the overall goal of the organiza­ tion, it's target industries and re arch need . The prim ry emphasis of the S CG remain the coordi­ nation of economic develop­ ment re urce ithin and among the member counties. Through this coordination, the S CG hope to maximize th limited aff and financial re urces available in uth- e tern ichigan for the imple­ mentation of economic develop­ ment program . pecific industrie to receive attention from the CGA - a part of the Interim Strategy are auto supply firms, agri­ culture, and travel and tourism. Other target industries will be examined in 1988, along with more refined trategies. The CGA currently assists the following programs in Berrien, Ca and VanBuren counties: -Are Development (reten­ tion and expansion) Services through the Berrien County , Economic Development Group, Ca County Planning and Economic Development Cor­ poration and VanBuren County Planning Department; - Local Procurement Offices through the Twin Cities Area Chamber of Commerce. third program in Small Busine As' tance is currently being developed. The SE has established the Ac demic All-American Scholar Award Program in order to offer deserved recognized to superior students who excel in the Ac demic di iplines. The Academic All-American Scholars must earn a 3.3 or better grade point average.
