Wheeler said the purpose of
the July 16 meeting will be to
organize "The Committee to
Save Camp Rankin. "
Our CAt Ris youth need a
facility like Camp Rankin to
assure their opportunities for
recreation, social apprecia
tion, and objective community
participation, • Wheeler said
Wheeler said the camp was
originally purchased by the
city so that "deprived poor
youth of Highland Park
would have the opportunity to
enjoy a reaeational camping
experience not otherwise affor
dable to them.
To stir public interest in
saving the camp for city youth,
Wheeler said over 40 com
munity groups, block clubs, as
sociations were being as ed to
come to the July 16 meeting.
