The most recent show,
called Charley's . d Bag of
Fashions, is just one endeavor
of many, the designer has un­
dertaken.
"I've been sewing since I

eighth grade. I had been e -
posed to the subject matter of
the class, and I only remember
learning the technical name
for parts of the sewing
chine; " she explains.
She diligently studied
ready-to-wear in the stores,
tailored fashions, boo and
gazines that monstrate
certain tric of the trade,"

A look at the gowns on

has no doubt surpassed most
of those she has studied
Along the way she did get as
much formal training as she
could to help her business
grow. She attended the
Fashion Institute, studying
such ubjects as color and
design, merchandising, te­
tiles, advertising. retail buying,
retailing, fashio illustrating
among others,
Charley also shares what she
kno ,She taugh sewing in
an after school program for
two years at Henry Ford Mid­
dle School and for adults at
Willard Elementary in High­
land Park.
She has provided original
designs completed to the last,
fastidious detail to doctors,
business persons, well-kno
politicians, television per-
sonalities.
Her business has taken her
from doing weddings in Vir­
ginia, to the fashionable sub­
urbs, to Ponti C, and of
course, here at home, High-
Sho
land Par
In the midst of this creative
and p ofessi nal career, Char­
ley has been marri d 22 years,
the mother of three children
ages 19, 20, and 21. She is
employed as a paraprofes­
sional at Henry Ford Middle
School in Highland Par
