The Committee begins it

relevant to Black people dur­
ing this period." It cites as
core value that have been
fundamental to Black survival,
the primacy of family, the im­
portance of education and the
nece 'ty for individual nter­
pri and hard wor." It call
on Black 'religiou in itution,
civic and social organization,
media, entertainers, educators,
thletes, public officials and
other community leader to
more ctively promote the

IDGHLAND PARK - Michi­
gan's Legislative Blac Caucus
members met March 30 at
Highland Par Community Col­
lege to hear pre ntations from
hool officials and discu pro­
blem.
The college's pre 'dent, Dr.
Comer Heath, Ill, told the
gislator that Highland Park
Community College i a "hub
to help develop the area
economically culturally."
The hool is important be-
cau many African·American
udents attend community col­
lege after graduation from high
hool in ead of oing directly
to four ye r colleges, he said.
In an intervi w after the
meeting, Heath said the legisla­
tors were invited to the college
to see hat it is doing for
minority udent.
The legislator were told how
important two year colleg s are
in preparing students who are
cademically deficient for suc­
ce s in four year colleges and
universitie .
