DETROIT - On June 6,
1987 the Fir Annual WALK·
A·THO for Detroit Recreation
Centers will be held t Rouge
Par in Detroit. This WALK·
A· THO ill raise fund to
increa youth programming in
e ch of the city's Recre tion
Center.
All fund rai d in each
neighborhood will ay in that
neighborhood's Recreation Cen­
ter. Youths, parents,' busine .
e ,community rvice group ,
churches and more are being
ed to participate in the walk­
a-then effort, and to join with
their local Recreation Center to
help turn out people and pledge
for this important commitment
to neighborhood recreation for
youth.
The S turday activity will
include free entertainment, food
and fitne during the 4-mile
alk through pleasantly wooded
hill (It take about 1-* hour
at an easy pace.) People are
encouraged to build "team " to
p rticipate in the event -

groups, community seIVice

"Alumni" of the Recreation

to insure the same opportunities
to today's youth.
Each Recreation Center ill
be having an organizing meeting
in April and invites everyone'
participation. Further infor­
mation and pledge forms ill
be available at the Center at
that time.

state in an anti-drug rally
as Student Champions for

unteered and was selected to
scheduled for the Pontiac
Silverdome, April 4 from 10
a.m. to 2 p.m.
Sponsored by the Michigan
PTA, the rally is being hailed

ly.

located at 45 E. Buena Vista.
