Kalamazoo's market shelves in
June, 1986, thanks in large
part to the fore ight of Eighth
Day Book tore management at
901 S. e tnedge. Says
boto: "Jerry (of the Eighth
Day Bookstore) talked with me
about my writing potential, en-
couraged me, and bought my
fir card. It gave me the incen
tive to push on."

With the wheels constantly

with a .Tear-a-Card concept to

The Tear- -Card concept a
devised by boto to fit the
needs and moods of the card
buyer whenever the urg to
send a card hits them. Limited
to a collector's ries of only
1000 books, each will contian
twenty cards including such
Adir - favorites as "The Day I
Thought Love Died", "End
the Moment' "Loving You",
and " other I ever Got the
Chance '.
'Tear-a-Card will save the
buyer time," says Mboto.
"There will be a card for almo t
every occasion, every whim,
every sincere hope of love and
reconciliation. "
146 years ago in London,
England artist Joseph Calcutt
Horsley designed the fir greet
ing card for Henry Cole. Cole
immediately had 1000 copies of
the card lith raphed and mailed
t his many friends on hrist
mas.
Cole s hope was to effect
special sense of knowing' of
bel ngin t and celebratin in
a common b nd. boto hopes
in her own way t effect a
world ide armth and ackn w

cards to tou h people where
feelings at n e failed t exi t

'Each man, ea h woman i
more than what he seems to
be and Ie than she can ever
trully hope to be,' • boto says.
'It is in the t riving that we
begin to e our own truth
and in the eeing that we begin
to blend harmoniously with all
that is called love."
