BENTO HARBOR - The
We ern Amateur Golf Tourna­
ment will return to the Point
O'Wood Golf & Country Club
for it's annual play, ugust 6-
10, 1986. This tournament,
drawing national attention, has
been given such nicknames as
"The Masters of the Amateurs"
and "A Prep School for the
Tour."
The field of applications for
the Western has wide range of
applicants, consisting of inter­
national players, the top col­
legiate golfers in the nation,
and a fe local amateurs.
By Tuesday morning, the
vacancies in the field for the
84th Annual Western Amateur
will be filled.
The tournament is made up
of two tournaments. Fir
there are 72 holes of stroke
play to qualify for the "Sweet
Sixteen." The top sixteen
players then start the second
half of the tournament, match
play.
