Black women sue restaurant
ALEXANDRIA, VA - Entering the Belvoir Restaurant
in uthwe t Virginia was lik stepping b ck into the racial
turmoil of the 1960s, say a Blac woman who claim
, restaurant owner Roy and Patricia cKoy refused her
service I ye r becau of her color.
The c oys, who already are under previous court
order to erve Black, are being sued for discrimination
by three Black women who, in front of news cameras
and reporters, tried to enter the Marshall, Va., restaurant
last Dec. 7.
Attorney for the cKoys told feder I court jury
July 24, their clients were made victims of a 'staged media
event" when Lori Jac n and her daughter, Denise John­
n and Debra William ,showed up at the Belvoir.
