your kitchen cupboard: Italian-style bread crumbs.
The ready-seasoned bread crumbs are sprinkled on
the potato layers, adding both texture and flavor. In
case you haven't yet discovered them at your super"
market, packaged Italian-style bread crumbs ar
made with Romano cheese, onion, garlic, parsley
and spices.

3 tablespoon olive oil, divided
4 c\ap peeled, thinly liced potatoe
1'h cup thinly liced onion
� cup Pro re o ltalian- tyle Bread Crumb
B� cup water or chic en broth
1 tea poon paprik
Preheat oven to 325 F. Remove sausage from casing
and crumble. In a medium skillet 'heat one tablespoon
of the olive oil until hot. Add sausage. Stir over
medium heat until browned; set aside. In a greased
two-quart casserole layer one cup of the potatoes
and 1/3 cup of the onions. Sprinkle with 1-1/2 tea­
spoons of the olive oil, two tablespoons of the bread
crumbs and one-quarter of the sausage. Repeat to
make four layers. Combine water and paprika; pour
over all. Cover ana bake for 45 minutes. Uncover
and bake until potatoes are tender and golden and
almost all of the liquid is absorbed, 35 to 40 minutes .
