It's time gain to think bout
the mo t onderful star that
ever hung in the sky.
When God nt his Son into
the orld He announced His
birth by nding a star to guide
the 10 ly epherd of the field
near Bethlehem and, al 0, the
Royal' en from the East to
the place wher Chri t had been
born.
E er since tronomer have
t d to ccount for this mira
culou light, figuring bac ard
th y h ve discovered that orne
where about this time there was
conjunction of two large
pl net jupiter and Saturn.
u, they h ve convinced
m ny th t the light a cau d
by a natural urce in tead of
b in we me phenom non.
Let u not be confu d about
the n ture of the star, or spend
time arguing about it. The
que tion is not wheth r or not
we believe the St r of Bethl -
hem w natural event or
up rnatural, but whether we
believe in thi tory which ha
been proven to be authentic.
Thi tar heralded Christ' com-
ing into the world. That i
all that matters. I prefer to
think it w upernatural.
Christmas is a Holy day!
It i the celebration. of the
earthly birthday of the creator
of the univer e; but some
have turned it into a com
mercial, or even pagan orgy.
As you look up to the
December stars try to think of
the brightest one a being
the Christmas star. 0 doubt
Jupiter and Saturn will have
slipped over the western horizon
where they have been lingering
for veral months. But Venus
will remain or perhap in other
areas Sirius or Capella may
remind you of God s great
love for human kind.
Thi will be the last month
in which to view the orthern
Cro which i in a vertical
position just above' the western
horizon each evening.
I thin every one rejoices
this time of year when a few
days before Christmas the sun
reaches the point where it is
furthest south of the celestial
equator on Dec. 21. This is
known as the winter olstice
when days are shortest and
nights are Ion est.
The winter constellation are
now . all in the' eastern sky
and will remain for u to enjoy
the remainder of winter.
very Happy Christmas to
everyone who likes to star
gaze.
